What is the Walnut Cove Members Association?

Founded in 2007, the Walnut Cove Members Association (WCMA) is a group of property owners at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove who are interested in supporting local nonprofit charities. First and foremost, WCMA is a philanthropic group, but also one that plans a variety of unique events that are exclusive to their members.

The WCMA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises money through member dues, donations, corporate partner donations, and the annual Celebration of Giving auction.

At the end of each year, these funds are distributed to a variety of local charitable organizations in which their members are actively involved. As an all-volunteer organization, more than 90% of funds raised by WCMA are granted out.

The Mission

WCMA is committed to building a sense of community within Walnut Cove and positively impacting the greater Western North Carolina area by supporting their members' charitable efforts.

In 2026, WCMA will prioritize supporting basic needs such as food, shelter, health, and education. Recent grant recipients have included organizations targeting food insecurity, women’s shelters, after-school programs, arts organizations and more. The organizations we support are as varied as our member’s passions.

Grants

The WCMA awards grants to nonprofit organizations operating in Western North Carolina with a focus on those that provide human services, healthcare, education, or support natural and cultural resources.

WCMA grants are available to a non-profit who is sponsored by a WCMA member, provided that the member is actively involved as a volunteer or Board director for the non-profit. Grant applications of up to $30,000 may be made for a non-profit engaged in Health and Human Services missions. Maximum limits are less for organizations focused on education and natural and cultural resources.
